When I dream, it's like a sea of panels floating around in my head. These panels contain images that I keep filed in my brain until they become animated in my dreams. Some images contain only faces; some familiar and some strange. Others are my fears, visions, ideals and fantasies. As these panels drift and collide, my dreams and nightmares are created and a dialogue begins between the dream world and reality.
This experience is a journey through time; a series of encounters with myself at different points in my life; an exchange of hidden perceptions from a secret world only I have access to. After I wake from my journey all I have left are visions and cloudy memories that I document as images. I consider each individual piece of work a panel belonging to a consciously elusive mosaic that swarms in my dreams.
The process I go through to create my art masks my recognition of reality and returns me to my private world. There, I associate certain colors, shapes, patterns and textures with my thoughts, dreams and time periods as a whole, to translate raw feelings into visuals that act as a language and help me articulate my thoughts.
Labor intensive work allows me to work on a very intimate level and develop an emotional connection with each piece. I try to give every line in a picture the same sensitivity and concern regardless of its status in my composition. Some otherwise dull or commonplace subjects can be embellished with a sympathetic hand and patience. This process has become a ritual, and a form of communication I use internally to recover memories and invaluable information shared with me during an esoteric state.
